The Appalling Mr Dali

Saturday 28 April 2007 10:30-11:00 (Radio 4 FM)

Malcolm McLaren presents a profile of Salvador Dali, a serious painter who transformed himself into an outrageous showman who embraced every aspect of popular culture. He looks at Dali's influence on contemporary artists from Warhol to Damien Hirst and Gilbert and George. He visits Dali's house and Theatre Museum in Spain on the trail of the artist who was the first to fully understand the power of publicity and mass media.
