The
Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache was speaking as he sentenced the two
eighteen year olds and two seventeen year olds involved to a total
of eight and a half years in youth detention.
John
Michael Beamer, from Jersey, was sentenced to three years in youth
detention after admitting kidnap and two counts of grave and criminal
assault.
Jean
Paul Martin was also sentenced to three years after admitting a
lesser charge of aiding and abetting Beamer in the kidnap and a
further count of grave and criminal assault.
Two
seventeen year olds
Two
seventeen year old boys who cannot be named for legal reasons were
also sentenced to youth detention.
The first pleaded
guilty to aiding and abetting the kidnap and was sentenced to 12
months detention.
The
second 17 year old pleaded guilty to common assault and was also
found guilty of aiding and abetting the kidnap following a trial
by the Royal Court, he was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.
